The school aims to train highly skilled professionals able to work autonomously in the filed of research, scientific experimentation and application of specific methods related to Animal and Food Science.
This program lasts three years and emphasizes training for independent research; it is aimed to develop competent scientists who have adequate knowledge of related subjects, and have demonstrated their ability to plan, undertake and complete researches, analyse and interpret experimental data and write and present scientific results . Positions for graduates of this program mainly concern universities, industry, or institutions involved in animal and food science. Moreover, the program offers the chance of spending a 12 months period abroad. The Ph. D program requires a public competition for admission, provides some specific courses with final examination and several lectures. All Ph.D students are supervised by a professor of the department, are involved in research activity, are required to produce a research thesis that must be approved by all members of teaching committee and must be defended in a final examination. Ph. D. students are expected, as part of training, to assist in teaching undergraduate courses.
